it all starts here
can there be respect
can there be conversation
can there be all the things that make a friend a friend

passion and romance
best sit this one out
not invited to the dance
they wait awkwardly by the punch bowl

then it might happen
the physical spark
the chemical reaction
that even by itself can create a bond

then a friend
becomes a companion
two dreamers reaching
and helping the other reach out towards life

how long it lasts
it is unpredictable
both must be willing
to love each enough to set the other free

just friends
they said like
it was the end
if only they knew, it had only just begun
